STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS

Sometimes, the structure of a house has failed. This may include the rafters, the floor joists, or any part of the wooden structure or the foundation of the house. If a house is not built properly or has been built on unstable soils, the house can shift, sink, move, or twist. Sometimes homeowners inadvertently remove load bearing walls or modify the house in a way that creates various structural problems. Home owners may notice sloping or sinking floors, walls that move during a heavy breeze, or other indications that there are serious structural problems with their house.

Structural problems need to be evaluated by an engineer in order to determine the nature and extent of the problems. Remedies are often expensive and affect the value of the house.
